Starbucks LIED to me – LIED!!!!!

I forgot to make this post when it happened, but I want everyone to know that Starbucks totally blows and they LIARED!! to me. My wonderful aunt, Ani, got me a Starbucks card for my birthday, she sent it to me early, so I’d take advantage of the “free drink on your birthday” thing they have at Starbucks.

Well guess what. It’s a lie. I googled about the internet to see if I was the only one, and I’m not – there’s lots of stories like mine online. Out of all the things you could lie about, Starbucks, did it have to be on my birthday?
I went into the store, casually strolling by their nauseating faux-positivistic posters, and all smiley, asked if I could get a free drink on my birthday. I presented my Starbucks Reward card just to have the chick at the cashier go, “Uh, what?” Another barista that was making a drink chimed in and told me it wouldn’t work unless I registered online. Of course, I had already registered online, the day I got the card! So I proceeded happily to hand her my rewards card.
And she says, “Well, you have to register and then get a certificate of your birthday in the mail.”
“What?”
“A certificate, of your birthday.”
And then, sulking and frowny-faced, I walked out of Starbucks and took a stroll to a magical land called JC Beans AKA Starbucks main competitor on PCH in Dana Point.
I had a yummy caffeinated slushie and went along and had a great birthday, despite Starbucks denying me my inalienable RIGHT as a Starbucks Rewards card holder to get a free freaking drink on my BIRTHDAY!
I’m convinced there’s some type of conspiracy to not give anyone a free drink on their birthday. I mean, if they really need to “certify” your birthday, couldn’t they just ask for your ID? IT’S A CONSPIRACY.
I’m not actually mad, but I gotta say this was pretty ridiculous. Just reason #462757 I should quit Starbucks. I wish I knew how to quit it.
