GoDaddy Nameserver propagation taking over 24 hours.
This is my last straw with GoDaddy. There are cheaper services, but I used their’s out of convenience. Taking more than 4 hours to propagate a .com domain is totally unacceptable. I thought it was because it was first set up on the weekend, and weekends are always slower for GoDaddy, but the nameservers still have not propagated and it’s Monday.
I won’t be using them anymore nor will I tell my customers its okay to use GoDaddy. I’ve never had a domain take longer than 4 hours to propagate (even through my unfortunate ISP.)

I cried like a little baby.
The end.
PS. I think it’s underrated concerning it’s Rotten Tomatoes rating. I think it’s a solid 3/5.
It’s true that there were lots of drawn out montages but it had more complex subplots than the average romance movie and for that it deserves some credit.
“I don’t want to die without knowing the end of Lost.” – Kick Ass
Me niether! I saw Kick-Ass today and it was fun and worth the price of admission. I especially love little Chloe Moretz’s mouthy and deadly character, HitGirl. Very cute! I’d love to see her in more action movies.

I’m almost halfway through George R.R. Martin’s epic fantasy series book, A Game of Thrones, the first book of A Song of Ice and Fire. I’ve wanted to read it for a long time, but now I felt that I had to finish it before HBO’s adaptation of the series came out.
The series is set to be amazing, with artistic input from the author and a great cast. According to most fans, Game of Thrones isn’t the best book of the series, and it gets much better as it goes on. Still, having read only part of Game of Thrones so far, I have to say it’s lived up to the praise. I also can see the whole series becoming a really great read for me.
I’m reading the audio book and I follow along on the e-book. Somtimes I get impatient with the reading, since it can be slow, but I’m reading it along with Dary and don’t want to get ahead, so audio book it is.
The Game of Thrones series will probably debut in March 2010.
Have something to say about this post? Contact me.Too bad Flashforward is getting canceled. It is finally getting good.
Where do I start? I really liked the last 2 episodes. The whole Somalia field trip gave me Dharma-flash backs. Note that in the videos they were referring to test group “B” so there must be a test group “A”. The video at the end really wowed me. He must have been watching him, in the tower, at that moment, him or someone else. The Jericho storyline is pretty neat. It’s finally getting gritty. I really want to know what happens now. Janis and Demetri hooking up was really random, but I’ll admit I was totally thinking it.
Even though Flashforward’s ratings have been inching up, Tvbythenumbers.com still thinks it will get canceled.
Have something to say about this post? Contact me.Pinocchio vs. The Princess and the Frog: Animation
I’ve watched these two movies recently and I noticed a couple differences in animation quality and detail. First of all, Pinocchio (P) was made in 1940 and The Princess and the Frog (F) was made in 2009. So obviously, there’s going to be alot of technical differences. P was made mostly on paper and primitive frame-by-frame drawing. F was made probably on Toon Boon with a mix of Wacom tablets and a bit on paper. I believe backgrounds for both films were painted, probably digitally for F.
Despite this, it appeared to me that human characters had alot less detail in F, and the detail they did have was more subtle. This gave it an overall flat look that I didn’t like. I’d rather the faces have more hard lines than just be flat one-dimensional pieces. P’s characters were more cartoonish, hence more detailed. I also liked the hair better in P (with the exception of the fairy.) I’m not totally in love with the soft glows in F on characters, but it can grow on me. I wish it was situated more based on face structure rather just on the outlines. Also, Tiana’s mom seemed to age REALLY well, but then again this is a children’s movie, so I’m not expecting ‘accuracy’. They obviously wanted to romanticize her parents.

Further, I looked at objects. This was harder to do for F because it was a very character-driven story. P has lots of objects and the animators spent time on each frame with Gepetto’s clocks and music boxes to make them look perfect. Most of the objects in F were inanimate, so they were painted. Look at the roof of the clock and the little doors (moving parts.) You can barely tell a difference. This is very advanced for it’s time. This isn’t consistent throughout P though. There are flaws as the film progresses, but the clocks and music boxes are really magical to me. Especially since there’s so many! They only stay on the screen for 3 seconds at a time. Further down you can see the boat in F. I believe it’s digitally painted and it does move a bit. Once again pretty much flawless integration with the background. I couldn’t find a screenshot but a scene in Mama Odie’s house where she throws something against the wall, it’s very easy to see that the wall is separate from the moving part that’s being through because of the MUCH thicker lines on the animated object. Although – overall, they do very well.

Animal Characters are hard to judge, since each one is often designed and detailed to the extent of it’s importance in the movie. I thought the alligator in F had a fabulous personality but the design was poor and uninspired. Many people said it looks like the Peter Pan Gator. The villainous felines in P have an interesting appeal, although not my favorite anthropomorphic realization. For animals, detail is added through texture by creating irregular outlines (where hair or wrinkles or joints are). Also, look at Figaro’s ear hairs – they look painted on, and probably are. One thing I didn’t like about F is the use of gradients. I like gradients sometimes, but not paired with thick outlines.

This post is just my opinions and immediate observations. I didn’t plan on doing this, but I watched the movies close together and noticed the differences. Anyway, if you read this entire post and feel like you wasted 5 minutes of your life, here’s something to cheer you up:

Tuesdays with Morrie is a simple, easy to read book. I read it twice, and I understood it very differently each time. This is one of my favorite excerpts from the book. It’s a simple story that fits perfectly within the context of the book, but also stands on it’s own.
There is a little wave, bobbing along in the ocean, having a grand old time. He’s enjoying the wind and the fresh air — until he notices the other waves in front of him, crashing against the shore.
“My God, this is terrible,” the wave says. “Look what’s going to happen to me!”
Then along comes another wave. It sees the first wave, looking grim, and it says to him, “Why do you look so sad?”
The first wave answers, “You don’t understand! We’re all going to crash! All of us waves are going to be nothing! Isn’t it terrible?”
The second wave says, “No, you don’t understand. You’re not a wave, you’re part of the ocean.”

If you haven’t read Tuesdays with Morrie yet, I recommend it. It’s also great for teens/tweens, since the writing style is simple and easy to understand.
