Hard to photograph because the black acrylic I’m using is very thick and glossy. It feels like clay. The gold has a really off smell to it, and the red, well. It’s not my red. But the change surprised me in a good way. But I still want red.

My first month, the money side of things
As my first month in Romania comes to a close, I figured out I’ve spent about $170 so far. The breakdown looks something like this:
- Transportation, mostly for me, but I also paid for my grandmother every time she went out with me. I think transport has been about $15 so far.
- Art Supplies. I pretty regularly go to Bon Ami and get new oil markers. At $3 each (same thing I would spend on them in America) it adds up. Probably $30 was just this.
- I’m a girl, don’t judge me. Shoes, socks, accessory type items, shampoos… Quite a bit. Probably spent $70. I didn’t *need* any of it. It was just really really cute.
- Food, I paid for my food, and paid for grandma’s groceries as well, if I was there when she bought things. I also bought some little pharmaceuticals for her .. anything she needed. I got street food every couple days, but not regularly. I generally bought 10 eggs in the morning, sometimes sausage. That cost about $2 dollars and lasted me at least a week for breakfast.
- Lodging. I stayed for free at my grandmas.
Extra Fees this month: I used my heater excessively when I got here. It will probably cost about 500 lei total. My heater is more than half of the bill. But I think I will pay the whole bill if I have enough cash. Just for refrence sake, one of the other bedroom’s heater used 72 (I dont know the unit) and mine was a bit over 300. I will probably end up paying over 100 USD for this fiasco.
I haven’t used my heater now for over a day. It’s really not so bad, but I do miss leaning against it while I’m at my computer.
Overall, transportation has been the least of my worries so I look forward to traveling more and spending less on shoes. I went to Braila the other day, and I should make a post about my visit there soon! (actually there are a few posts that are backlogged, I just haven’t found the time)
In other news, Blackboard exploded this week, so I wasn’t able to do some of my homework. I was really frustrated and stayed up, then slept, woke up early-ish, and it was fixed and I got an extension on my due date. Phew!
I miss my family and I miss Leo. They have now officially moved to San Clemente and own their first home in California. Congrats to them!
xoxo
