Some Like It Hot (1959)
I really liked this movie. It was genuinely funny. The only qualm I have is Marilyn’s character. I didn’t like the tragicomic element. The alcoholism and the sadness (on her end) of the deception, and how she just accepts it guilelessly at the end sort of put a damper on the comedy. I guess Sugar was right, she wasn’t very bright. The character was a bit annoying, but maybe at the time it sold because Marilyn’s life was similarly tragic? And that’s what people wanted to see? Her performance is the only part of the film that didn’t really click for me. Otherwise, it was really funny, and I love the gender bending humor.
Edit: Sort of related, I really like the typography on this poster: (Czech)

Did you hear that? Just saw Paranormal Activity
Not as scary as I thought it would be, but it had some interesting scenes. I think I liked it.
Who will advance: Africa’s golden team or the Yanks?
Great day today for soccer. Lots of games in our (USA) quadrant.

Oscar was hurt when a combine harvester went over him while he was napping. But thanks to this vet he can now walk (and jump!) again. They are going to add paws to the legs to make his walking more natural. BBC will make a documentary series about Oscar and other bionic pets called “The Bionic Vet.”
They’re called intraosseous transcutaneous amputation prosthetics (ITAPs), and they’re drilled right into what was left of Oscar’s bones. They protrude down as stumps while the other ends are designed so that his skin will grow around them, making a sterile seal.

The one thing I can’t stand about Europeans: Racism against Gypsy/Romas. Few europeans are actually so far-right that they would attack a child, but the moderate population still has strong prejudices. When you think about it, America is so far ahead when it comes to racism. Just from my expirience.
In eastern Slovakia many Roma live in segregated communities like the village of Ostrovany where municipal authorities spent some $16,000 to build a wall separating the Roma from their white neighbors, because of fears of “alleged Roma crime,” said Stanislav Daniel from ERRC.
